Charity Marathon Run

Two teachers from Bristol Brunel Academy embarked on a 31 mile run in aid of charity on Friday 4th May 2012. The run took in all the academies within the Cabot Learning Federation and took six hours to complete. To see full report click here >>

Praise from trainer

Following a training day on Restorative Justice recently, Ms Grayson has received an email from the trainer. Ms Skelton said she was made to feel very welcome and it was fantastic to train in our school. She praised students and staff for their contributions, feeling there was a strong sense of community cohesion and the interaction between staff and students was extremely positive with both groups learning from each other. Year 10 BTEC Art Trip to London

The Art department had a trip to London in April with our lovely year 10 BTEC Art and Design students. We visited Tate Britain and Tate Modern, two of the most prestigious art galleries in the country. The students were brilliant even though we had a very long coach journey and appalling weather! Pupils really liked Tate Britain and enjoyed the variety of work on display there.

After the rainiest boat ride in the world we arrived, slightly damp, at Tate Modern. The pupils loved Damien Hirst’s Diamond Skull which was on display in Tate Modern (worth a cool £55 million!) One advantage to all the rain was that the gallery was quiet and we didn’t have to queue to see the skull!

Then, after a quick visit to the gallery shop, we were back on the coach for another marathon journey home!

Mr Willenz Ms Sroka and Mrs Benton enjoyed the day and would like to thank Year10 for being so brilliant!

Chernobyl Survivor visits King’s Oak

Students at King’s Oak Academy heard first hand of the tragedy that struck one part of Russia in April 1986. Joseph Belapko has been given permission to travel from Minsk to the UK to tell his story so that we can understand the unimaginable challenges faced by those tasked with dealing the Chernobyl, the biggest nuclear disaster in history and he talked to students at KOA.
